At ARN, our skills assessment helps us understand your child’s current communication, learning and daily living skills, strengths, and areas where support may be helpful. It is a non-diagnostic assessment — it does not replace a clinical autism or ADHD diagnosis.
If your child needs an autism diagnostic assessment, ARN can refer you to our partner DBP (Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician). Please contact us with your child’s age and needs to ask about referral arrangements. This is separate from ARN’s non-diagnostic skills assessment.
To enquire, use our online enquiry form. You can bring any existing medical or psychological reports and a familiar toy or comfort item. Our team will explain the assessment process and available arrangements before you book.
The approximately 1.5-hour skills assessment explores skills your child already uses and areas for further development. ARN may use ABLLS-R and related skills-based tools to inform discussions about teaching goals.
Afterwards, the course director will explain the findings, discuss suitable next steps, and provide a one-page Summary Note. This is different from a detailed clinical diagnostic report. If you require documentation for a school or another professional, please tell us its intended purpose before booking.
Fee: HK$2,800. The assessment fee is fully refunded once the first 15 service sessions have been completed, subject to confirming the arrangements with our team. An enquiry does not confirm an appointment.
If your child begins 1:1 ABA-VB services after the skills assessment, our team develops an Individualised Education Programme (IEP) through early teaching and observation, generally during the first month of services. The IEP is not completed on assessment day. It sets personalised teaching goals and is reviewed as your child develops.
The skills assessment provides a starting point for discussing your child's learning needs. For families continuing with ARN services, the team uses structured observations, regular reviews and tools such as WebABLLS to monitor progress and adjust teaching goals.
