Dressed in purple, President Halimah Yacob signed autographs and chatted with over 60 musicians of the Purple Symphony yesterday, to encourage them as they prepared for an upcoming concert.

The musicians, some of whom have special needs, will be performing on Oct 28 at the Purple Parade, an event which supports inclusion and celebrates the abilities of people with special needs.

Yesterday, the orchestra gave the President a preview of two of the pieces they were rehearsing at the Pathlight School in Ang Mo Kio.

Thanking them, Madam Halimah spoke of the importance of being inclusive. “The last thing we want to do is to build walls, because walls do not help to create a strong, sound society,” she said.
